To: bokvamme at errors dot no, jtotland at eunet dot no Subject: Visions Camera Hi there, I am a FreeBSD Unix developer. I recently contacted Visions about getting some specs for the USB camera I have. The plan was to write a USB driver for FreeBSD. My background is that I maintain the FreeBSD bt848/ bt878 driver. I also helped a little with the linux bttv driver (via Gerd Knorr) Henry Bruce replied and pointed me in the direction of your Linux driver group. He also asked me if we (me and Henry) should meet. I am a researcher in Glasgow (80km from VVL in Edinburgh) and Hanry will be in Glasgow next Thursday (29th April) So, I am emailing to ask if we can help each other out writing support for the Vision's USB camera. While FreeBSD does not use the V4L or V4L2 yet, many FreeBSD users want to adopt the V4L2 API that Bill is writing. And the FreeBSD USB author (Nick) knows the Linux USB guy (Innakay) quite well. So there should be no problems getting USB support working. There are also a few other FreeBSD developers keen to get the USB camera working. (And the Parallel Port camera too) So, let me know if we can colaborate on the project. I'll speak to the other USB developers I know and see if I can get some more volunteers for coding (both for FreeBSD and linux).
